“I know many of you are upset,” Ben told the class. “But I did not show you this film today just to get an emotional reaction from you. I want you to think about what you saw and what I told you. Does anyone have any questions?” -Ben Ross, pg. 17, The Wave

This quote stood out to me from what I read so far because when Ben showed the students the film some of them reacted by crying. This can show that people could still react with emotions because even though happened a long time ago. If I were there I would have asked questions, about like why were so many people killed? Ben just wanted to show them the film so that they could know what happened in the camps, and what happened their overall.

What I could connect this with in real life is that during the holocaust Jews were sent to the ghetto, and life in the ghetto was horrible, and all of them did not like it. To them it felt like they have lost their freedom to do anything, because once they were put into the ghettos, the Nazis put up a huge wall, so the Jews could not go anywhere. This connection shows fear by the Jews feeling like they were overpowered by others. Another way that this connection shows fear is that how can the Jews get food, or water, will they starve? This also shows fear by, people in the ghetto weakening by hunger, and, ten thousand people dying from illnesses. Life in the ghetto was a rough time for the Jews.

  1. The 'H' in Holocaust is capitalized. But I do agree with what your saying though. Especially when you said "To them it felt like they have lost their freedom to do anything,..." because they really didn't have any freedom, or get any while they're in there, when they were put into the ghettos.
