End of Freedom

End Of Freedom

The establishment of ghettos marked the end of freedom of movement for Jews.  Write about what freedom means to you in your life and what you think it would mean to lose it.

What freedom means in my life is that I could do a lot of different things without anyone making decisions for me. If freedom was taken away from me I would not like it, because I would want control of what I do, and if freedom was taken away from me, I wouldn’t be able to control what I do, because it would feel like someone was taking control of my life. The end of freedom for the Jews was when they were put into the ghettos. The Jews felt trapped in the ghettos because of the big walls that surrounded them, to make sure that they stayed there. Ghettos isolated Jewish communities, by separating them both from the   non-Jewish population, and from other Jewish communities. If I were in their situation, I would feel like I had all of my freedom taken away from me, and that I was also trapped, and would not be able to get out, because of the wall.

  1. I agree Brandon, about the part where you talk about how the Jews felt trapped in the ghettos.

  2. I agree Brandon, the Jews did certainly feel trapped in the ghettos and camps. They did have control over what they could do or say.
